What are the eligibility criteria for international trading?

To be eligible to transact on international markets you will need to meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • All account holders and associated parties including trustees, beneficiaries, directors and controlling persons must be Australian residents for tax purposes and cannot be a resident for tax purposes of any other country.
  • All account holders must reside in Australia with both residential and mailing addresses for all accounts being in Australia.
  • All individual and joint applicants must provide their current Australian Passport or Australian Driver's Licence. To do this follow the steps in either the If you're using the NEW nabtrade platform or If you're using the OLD nabtrade platform accordions below.
  • Company, organisations and trusts must be registered in Australia and lodge a US Withholding Tax Treaty Statement. Once completed return this form to us via email to international@nabtrade.com.au
  • All account holders must provide Tax File Numbers (TFN) or exemption codes, along with ABNs (if applicable). To  see if your TFN is held by nabtrade, follow the steps in either the If you're using the NEW nabtrade platform or If you're using the OLD nabtrade platform accordions below.

For security and privacy purposes, please do not email us your TFN.

To provide your current Australian Passport or Australian Driver's Licence and follow the prompts.

  1. Log in to nabtrade using your User ID and Password.
  2. Navigate to Admin > Permissions > Trading Account – International > Activate.
  3. To see if your TFN is held with nabtrade:
  4. Log in to nabtrade using your User ID and Password.
  5. Navigate to Admin > Personal Details
  6. If your TFN is not held, please enter it online by clicking Edit.

To provide your current Australian Passport or Australian Driver's Licence and follow the prompts.
  1. Log in to nabtrade using your User ID and Password.
  2. Navigate to Admin > Permissions > Trading Account – International > Activate.

To see if your TFN is held with nabtrade:

  1. Log in to nabtrade using your User ID and Password.
  2. Navigate to Settings > Profile
  3. Select the Citizenship and tax residency tab
  4. Under Tax residency, if your TFN  says 'Not Provided', please enter it online by clicking Edit.
