Important information

We are shortly introducing Multi-Factor Authentication (2FA) to provide extra protection when you log in to nabtrade. As a result, you will be required to authenticate your device when you first log into nabtrade from it.

Protecting your account with Multi-Factor Authentication when logging in

Understanding Multi-Factor Authentication

MFA is an added layer of security designed to confirm your identity when logging into an online service or account. This helps protect your accounts from being compromised by cyber criminals. MFA requires that you enter additional information to gain access to your account. It’s also referred to as ‘two-factor authentication’ or ‘2FA’.

What is Multi-Factor Authentication?

MFA requires two or more forms of verification to log in, such as:

  • Something you know, like your nabtrade login password
  • Something you have, like a one-time passcode sent to your registered mobile phone

If your password is compromised, the additional verification step helps prevent unauthorised access to your account.

How does MFA protect your nabtrade account?

MFA strengthens your login security by requiring an additional verification step beyond your password.

When you first log in, you will be asked to:

  • Enter your password.
  • Confirm your identity by entering the MFA code sent by SMS to your registered mobile device.

You will be required to complete MFA when logging in from a new or unrecognised device. A trusted device may remain authenticated for up to 12 months.

This approach maintains account security while providing convenient access from trusted devices. Ensure your registered mobile number and email address remain current. You can update your details by completing a Change of Personal Details form.

Best practices for staying secure

MFA is important, but these habits provide additional protection:

  • Use a strong, unique password that is not used for any other website or service.
  • Keep your contact details current to ensure you receive important security notifications.
  • Never disclose your login details or verification codes, even if a request appears urgent.
